November 12, 2003This past week we graduated and certified 21 new Certified YogaKids Facilitators. They are an amazing group of woman and are completely stoked with love, rich techniques and a strong sense of community as they go back to their cities and towns across the country to “change the world, one child at a time”. Search for a CYKF in your area and enroll your child today. I am off to Heart Center Yoga, a gorgeous YogaKids studio in Highland Park just north of Chicago, to turn many new students onto the joy of teaching yoga to children. The scenic point of Point Reyes, California will be my next stop and the last Phase 1 training of the year, at Yoga Toes. There are still spots available, so come and join us and begin the new year with a new career! I am proud to say that the two new Gaiam YogaKids Kits (Yoga Play Kit and Fitness Fun Kit) that I wrote, choreographed and taught, have both won the prestigious Parent's Choice Award. I am a proud YogaKids Mama; know that your children will be delighted with these fun and playful kits. See for yourself! They are a little too big for stocking stuffers, but they will put exercise, education and empowerment under your Christmas tree or Hanuakuah bush! Have a thankful and cozy Thanksgiving. May we continue to receive blessings and be well. Namaste. October 22, 2003
Thank you so much for coming out and supporting me and YogaKids on my recent book tour through Bethesda, Baltimore, Atlanta and Miami. It was a lot of fun turning everyday kids into YogaKids! I met many wonderful yoga enthusiasts, educators, as well as sharing some great meals with new and old friends. A few highlights of the tour were teaching YogaKids with my longtime friend, Stephanie Hill, from my hometown of Ridgefield, NJ (we've been friends for over 40 years. Yikes!) at her wonderful school Burning Tree Elementary in Bethesda, Maryland. Here's what some of the students had to say:
Appearing on Good Morning Atlanta with the 5-year-old YogaKids triplets of Cheryl Crawford's, an Atlanta YogaKids trainee, was also very special. The girls were a little shy at first, but they warmed up quickly. We enjoyed ourselves and they were very proud of sharing YogaKids with all those new children in TV land. Coming up in the next few months, we have two Phase 1 trainings: Heart Center Yoga, a magical YogaKids studio, in Highland Park, a northern suburb of Chicago in a very cute downtown area that is close to Chicago's O'Hare airport, Nov. 13-16. And I’ll be at Yoga Toes, Dec. 6-9, 2003, in the breathtakingly scenic spot of Point Reyes, California. It's a real getaway. There are still openings left in each training, so please come and join us to learn about our whole-child approach with the premier yoga for children program. I hope to see you there! October 6, 2003Marsha: While I'm in Maryland for my book tour, I'll be appearing on Baltimore's WBFF-TV Fox 45 Morning News show Wednesday, 10/8, at 7:55 a.m. EST. October 2, 2003Thanks to all of you who stopped by our booth at the Yoga Expo last week, and to all of our trainees and CYKFs who helped us out spreading the word of our integrative yoga for children program. Everyone agreed that my son, Kiva, was a master promoter and salesman. He wrote a great essay for his 7th grade principal to tell him how educational his experience was: He learned a lot about math while counting change for sales of videos and books, enhanced his oral skills talking to people, and also about marketing and promotion, which he figured was a college level course!! On the international front, we have just firmed up our dates for Phase 1 YogaKids trainings in Singapore, June 3-6, 2004, in the beautiful city of Sydney, Australia June 9-12, 2004, and in the luscious vacation spot of Byron Bay, in the magnificent land down under on June 17-20, 2004 (training calendar). We now have teachers in England, Ireland, Italy, China and Canada (find a teacher). Our worldwide reach is so exciting. YogaKids is an international language that keeps us united, just like the word yoga says: to yoke or join together. Hope to see you there! I am getting ready to embark on the first leg of my YogaKids book tour on Tuesday, October 7 in Bethesda, MD. For those in the Atlanta, GA, area, tune in on Friday morning to Fox 5 between 8-9 a.m. for Good Day Atlanta to see me and some YogaKids yogaing! I hope you will bring your children and come and join us. I will be signing books, plus leading a little mini class with both traditional yoga poses and some wacky, zany YogaKids poses like Bug Pickin’ Chimp Breath, Ankle Heel Toe Walking and Hot Air Balloon. Look forward to meeting you and your kids for these fun events. September 17, 2003The book has landed! We have books before the stores have them, so come and get them! And if you order now until December 10, you will get a signed copy. I have a list of dates for my book tour, where I'll be signing books and playing YogaKids. I will let you know here if we make any additions or changes to the schedule. September 16, 2003I just returned from Gaiam in Colorado recording the final voice over on our third YogaKids video, Silly to Calm. I’m getting to be a pro at this, and it sure was more fun than the previous times when I was still green and nervous. The YogaKids are just adorable and I am really happy with this show. It is a flow, and like the title says, it starts out very silly with poses like Untying the Knots, Shake Like Jelly, Freeze and Flow, and moves forward with active standing poses like Direction Breath, Reach for the Sun and Bug Pickin’ Chimp. Then it gradually moves these 3-6 year old towards quiet breathing and relaxation. It was shot, like the original YogaKids video, on the shores of beautiful Lake Michigan, as well as lovely gardens on the St. Joseph River in Michigan. The YogaKids 2 ABC’s video will also be released in October, and features adorable animation that introduces each of the 26 letters of the alphabet, along with great animal footage, and of course, the YogaKids are shining stars, adorable and always trying their personal best at their yoga.
Namaste. Happy Yogaing. It’s a fun and healthful adventure for the whole family! September 9, 2003Fall is shaping up to be very exciting for us - I'll be making TV and book signing appearances for my book tour, my two latest YogaKids videos are coming out this Fall, and we have lots of trainings going on all over the world!
Whew! Keep on eye on this weblog (blog) for more information on what we are doing, where Marsha will be, how to get our products, and of course, more information on yoga for children. top |
